yay! today was an excellent day. i really like having some saturdays off because brian always has friday's and saturday's off so it means i can spend the day with him. i slept in. then we got ready and showered and went out to The Table which was delicious. i hadn't seen overly good reviews but i wanted to try it for myself and me and brian

tried pretty much everything between the two of us with minimum complaints. then we went down to preston street for gelato. i didn't like the tiramisu gelato as much as the kind i can get in whitby [but completely forgot about while i was home *tear*]

 

after that we headed to ikea, planning to go to chapters after, but that didn't happen. brian was very good to me. and man, it put me in a good mood! we picked up a few things. hehe

this is the COMFIEST CHAIR! it's great. i did want in fabric, but you can't have fabric and wheels and i like wheels.

 

 

Dudero Floor Lamp

this lamp lights up the entire living room, it's awesome. it was so dark in here with just the christmas lights.

and some awesome new mugs for tea. i love them!

 

 

Sorla Mug

overall an excellent day. usually spending money stresses me out. but i'm happy today. plus i get to freecycle a bunch of stuff since we replaced them! hurray!

ugh.

haha umm..not very well. i get stressed really easily over things i shouldn't stress about, and times i should stress i don't.

when i quit my job at the residence inn when we first moved to ottawa i was a diaster because i was freaking out over not providing well for us. we had no money. it sucked.

the last time i was dumped i was also a diaster. i didn't deal very well at all. i did alot of really stupid things, and said alot of stupid things, etc.

i'd like to think i'm getting better, and i'd like to think i'm becoming an adult. but who am i kidding? ;)

1 - Why are you best friends with your best friend?

Let's see, i am best friends with brian because he shares my life. because i love him more then anything in the world. because he puts up with how crazy, and ridiculous, and overly dramatic, and paranoid, and OCD i am. because he thinks that things like stealing the entire duvet at night and burritoing myself is "part of my charm". because he knows what "burritoing myself" meant without explanation. because sometimes there is silence, but it has never been awkward. because whenever i have fallen into a pit of despair he is right there with a rope. because he doesn't mind when i play a song over, and over, and over again like an obcessed 15-year old. brian is the rock in my otherwise rapidly flowing life. i love him more every day, i love every completely bizarre thing he does. i love the way he smells in the morning, and how his hair sticks up. i love that he doesn't think i'm weird for treating the kittens like children, and that he does the same. that is a drop in the ocean of reasons brian is my best friend.

i am best friends with anthony, who i stole this [like so many] survey from, originally, because i thought he needed help. i saw him going down and nothing could stop me from saving him. but, we still remain friends because i needed anthony more then he ever needed me. he has the exact perfect thing to say whenever i need it. he doesn't seem to mind when i leave him random thoughts i have at 4am. he is logical and caring. he always shows me interesting music i never would have heard otherwise. i hope that anthony sticks around. he's a really, really amazing person. :)

2 - What bothers you the most about other people?
i hate when people leave cupboard doors open. don't put things away where they belong. leave the toliet seat up at other people's houses. when people are bitchy and rude for no reason. i'm sure there's more. :-/

3 - Would you ever marry for money?
haha i am definently not marrying brian for his money ;-P but i wouldn't anyway. in the end, if that's all it's about, that's all you'll have, and money can't buy happiness ;)

4 - Do you prefer to text message or talk on the phone?
talking on the phone.

5 - Do you believe that 30 really is the new 20?
haha someone said that to me at work, and i laughed. i guess so, i know MOST people are settling down earlier, but what am i? 10?

6 - If you had a crush on someone would you tell them?
i have. i usually did, one of my greatest teenage downfalls was setting myself up for disappointment. haha.

7 - What is one of the toughest things you ever had to do?
pick myself back up off the floor.

8 - Name a challenge you are faced with on a regular basis?
regular? punching dominic in the face, quitting, and telling him everything i hate about him, and his stupid restaurant.

nope.

somewhat. we're getting there. haha. i'm terrible with plans, i always have been. it always drove me insane when people needed plans to go out, let's just fuckin go, and figure out how to get home AFTER. haha.

yep, i do.

eh. not really no. we're not trying to kill each other anymore, but i wouldn't say close. they call every month or so.

cooking. taking things personally? sleeping! i'm amazing at sleeping. looking after children.

singing. i'm terrible, absolutely, completely, terrible. hahaha.

i wish i had more to say. i opened this up assuming it would come to me. but it's not, not really.

 

i'm in a good place. my new job is going well, i'm hoping for full time hours in a month or so. which will mean i can finally quit my god awful other job.

 

i went home for like 4 days. i didn't do much; watched alot of CSI and crossing jordan. my mom is on her way to newfoundland via driving with my aunt. hopefully they make it there.

 

my birthday was pretty uneventful. i worked. which wasn't so bad since it was at the hotel.

 

my sister found my old mp3 player, which i thought i lost. we've been getting reaquainted.

 

i am still putting off planning the wedding since it might involve the death of my mother. hmm but maybe this is the perfect time with so many provinces between us. :)

 

brian wants a tattoo for his birthday. originally, we talked about getting our first tattoo together of half of a yin-yang sign over our hearts. obviously, couple tattoos are a terrible idea. haha but i liked it. anyway, so maybe we'll go get different tattoos together.

 

i'd really like an Alkaline Trio tattoo, ooh band tattoo, another taboo. haha or a chocolate cherry on my foot. i like the idea of foot tattoos. anyway, that's the idea i'm toying with. i've become alot better with pain. alot better. could be all the cuts/burns/bruises i endure daily. anyway, that's my life right now.

argh.

i hate being embarassed, especially at work. ugh, ugh, ugh. i feel really exposed. fuck.

i updated my livejournal the other day, and i figured i should put it here too. except all the stuff i've updated about here already;

 

my birthday is in 11 days, and i'm considering time off to come home to whitby, since i haven't been back since christmas. i think the kittens would enjoy the time they could run and play in the backyard.

i'm really liking my new job. it's something new everyday. the chef is a bit unnerving, but i think he has alot to offer. the sous chef is great, even if everyone has weird opinions of him, i think he's trying to get us to expand our horizons, and we all could use some of that. the first cook scares the living shit out of me. i don't know why. he acts really weird around me, while he jokes and sings around everyone else. but last night i almost ran right into him [you know me, so this isn't too hard for me to manage] because we had a 20 in, and the desserts [which are done by whoever is in production] just came in and i saw them get punched in, and they were FAR from what was on the agreed upon fixed menu, and i like plating desserts at the hotel since i get to mess around with whatever is around this week, anyway, i was jumping off the line to see if he needed any help and we almost crashed into each other and i was like oh, do you need some help? so i went back and helped. and i felt so ridiculous because i kept making the marscapone quenelles way too big but he said "it's not that they're bad, i can't even make quenelles that good, i don't know how you do it, they're just a bit too big. and after i was about to apoligize for being absolutely no help [all i did was 5 strawberry & cream which was what the quenelles were garnishing, and the ice cream] he said wow, thanks for your help. from now on i'll be getting you to help me, you're alot more help then anyone else i've had back here.

so maybe i'm being paranoid. worried that i'm not good enough. worried i'm not living up to the expectations of people i have come to really admire.

before that encounter, the sous chef looked at a dessert plate i had done and put up while i finished off another one, and he looked at it for about 30 seconds then said i like this, i really, really like this.

i feel like i'm getting my confidence back. i'm looking forward to running my own specials, making up my own potatoes, and maybe changing up some other things.

maybe i can do this.

maybe i can push over the gender boundaries i've encountered. maybe i can survive stepping out of my comfort zone.
